Hey guys! August is almost upon us and as most of us are relaxing on a beach with a cocktail in hand, we need to start thinking of our fall/winter footwear wardrobe.
The same way you may want to organize your clothes for the upcoming season you also need to think on what your all so important feet will be wearing.
In preparation for this you need to focus on some things:
- Review your existing fall/winter shoe wardrobe: see how many pairs of season appropriate footwear you have
- Make a list of your day2day activities during the fall/winter season so as to establish what you may need and what not
- Review the quality of the existing pieces: do they have any existing cracks, holes or discolorations that may render them unwearable? Are they still sturdy enough? Do they match your existing wardrobe? Do you still like them/want to wear them? Are they in line with your lifestyle? etc. – Remember! The shoes on your feet are as important as the make-up & clothes you wear so make sure they are well maintained so you don’t send out the wrong message
- Remove any that are deemed not OK
- Make an inventory of the existing pieces & shop ’till you drop for anything that’ missing
Very important is to be realistic regarding what your lifestyle during the upcoming period will be: are you spending most of your days in the office or outside? Are you regularly attending social events? Is your footwear going to be exposed to a lot of rain/ snow?
Depending on this you will know where to focus your money & efforts. For example, if you are mostly an office dweller then it makes no sense to buy a lot of sturdy boots but instead you should get some classic pieces like: stilettos, oxfords, chelsea boots, ankle boots etc. In a nutshell, footwear that is light on your feet but will keep them from sweating when the heating gets turned on.
Tip: if you are riding the subway to the office, is to keep 2-3 pairs of light shoes in the office and wear some sturdy boots on the way in so you don’t ruin your all so important collection:)
Remember, stick to your pre-established list of ” need to have” items so you don’t overspend and have a balanced footwear wardrobe!
Until the next post, wear them heels!
